Chiké Frankie Edozien - Lives of Great Men: Living and Loving as an African Gay Man — in conversation with Kai Wright — at Politics and Prose at Union Market

Upcoming Event
Thursday, August 15, 2019 - 7:00pm to 8:00pm

Edozien’s book is at once a memoir, a love-letter to Africa, and a remarkable group portrait of same-gender loving Africans. Traveling around the world—from Lagos to Brooklyn, Accra to Paris—Edozien introduces gay men and women who live and love on their own terms, finding joy against considerable adversity.  Writing with urgency and compassion, Edozien tells these stories of courageous individuals against the backdrop of Africa’s increasingly homophobic political climate whose pressures often force gay Africans to seek refuge in the West. Edzoien will be in conversation with Kai Wright, host of WNYC's Narrative Unit and a columnist for The Nation.
