This edition has been considerably expanded, updated, and revised. Cuban literature in the United States joins Chicano literature in the new chapter entitled "Hispanic Literature in the United States." The new selected list of 107 scholarly journals includes 25 now appearing for the first time. Approximately 40% of the entries are new, and many of the retained items have been revised. Donald W. Bleznick, an internationally-known scholar in the field of Hispanic studies, is a professor of Romance languages and literatures at the University of Cincinnati. He was editor-in-chief of Hispania (1974-83) and president of the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese in 1993.
