Metal Shavings in a Wooden Cup (Paperback)
This is an under the carpet look at the psychosis of everyday thinking. This book is not a journey through the mind of the author. It's more about willingly tripping over an obstacle in plain sight. The readings here are not designed to get you safely anywhere except to the edge of some cliff you previously fell off before.
Robert Robinson is a New York University student who is currently in the throws of risking all for the sake of writing. He confessed to having a sort of epiphany one day while sitting in writing class. Two things weighed heavily on my mind: 1. Could He write something comparable to the imaginative books he was reading? 2. Could He publish enough books to start paying off his tuition? He never speaks of himself as being a literary giant of his time. It suffices enough for him to believe that his words will be read for all time. Robinson is world traveled and universally tested and has for our pleasure decided to creatively amass his experiences onto paper. Originally from the European continent, he spends the majority of his time examining the motif that is Manhattan and embracing the cultures of a city that is unlike any other in the world. What is apparent when speaking with him is his unsettling wisdom and transparency. He makes you acknowledge that somewhere in all of us exists the connection that binds us all together. Therefore, he is one of us and we are all of him.
