Ghana, Country of western Africa, situated on the coast of the Gulf of Guinea with geographic diversity extending from North East to western to Greater Accra with it's vegetation formation as closed forest, northern savannah, coastal savannah and the coastal strand and mangrove formation which separate south east coastal plains from south western corner of Ghana, savannah and Sudan savannah and along the coast or lagoon where the soil is salty and water logged. Although relatively small in area and population, Ghana is one of the leading countries of Africa, partly because of its considerable natural wealth and partly because it was the first black African country of south of the Sahara to achieve independence from the colonial rule.
