Elinor Lipman - Good Riddance

Upcoming Event
Thursday, February 14, 2019 - 7:00pm to 8:00pm

Starting with Then She Found Me in 1990 and continuing with a string of books including The Inn at Lake Devine and The View from Penthouse B, Lipman has made her name as one of our most observant and engaging comic novelists. Her latest romantic comedy focuses on Daphne Maritch who, following the advice of a decluttering guru, throws out a yearbook. The volume had belonged to her mother, a high school teacher, who annotated it over the years with her candid opinions about the members of the class that had dedicated it to her. Then Daphne’s neighbor, a filmmaker, plucks it from the trash and decides to use it as the basis for a documentary. Daphne, afraid of what the project could reveal about her mother, struggles to nip it in the bud. The lengths she goes to in trying to stop the film are ingenious, sometimes silly, and a lot of fun.
