Bilton's upbringing was anything but normal. Her single lesbian mother desperately wanted to have children but in the 1980s she had few options to make it happen. Then she met a gorgeous man at a Beverly Hills hair salon and an idea clicked: she paid him to be a sperm donor with no strings attached. He agreed. But unbeknownst to her, he'd been donating to a sperm bank for many years--leading Bilton eventually to discover that she has dozens of half siblings. She's met 35 of them so far, and has no idea how many there may be in total.
