THE HOUSE OF SPECIAL PURPOSE by John Boyne

April 23, 2013

John Boyne spoke about his book, The House of Special Purpose, at Politics & Prose on Tuesday, April 23, 2013.

As he did with the Holocaust in The Boy in the Striped Pajamas and the First World War in The Absolutist, Boyne in his seventh novel dips into the sweep of 20th -century historical events and comes up with a richly evocative story told in a mesmerizing voice. Narrated by Georgy in 1981, the book chronicles the Russian Revolution, Georgy’s unexpected role in it, his escape to England, and his late-life return to the scenes of his youth.
